If the error persists

Today the World of Tanks server was disabled due to the installation of update 0.7.0 on the server. What is a launcher

If you installed the game not through Game Center, but using a launcher, then in the folder with the installed game you will find two files with which you can launch the game:

  1. game client - WorldOfTanks.exe;
  2. Game launcher - WOTLauncher.exe.

If you launch the game using a shortcut on the Desktop or from the Start menu created when installing the game, then the launcher is launched. The launcher window looks like this:

The launcher is a dispatcher program that allows you to quickly find the necessary information about the game, change basic settings, find out the latest news, go to the official portal and the project manual, social networks and the Premium store, top up your account and enter the game itself.

After launching, the launcher automatically checks the integrity of the game files and compliance of the game client with the latest version and, if necessary, updates the game to the latest version.

Additional launcher features

Through the launcher, you can also run the game in safe mode or run the game with the graphic settings reset. To do this, click on the arrow next to the “Play” button and select the desired mode.


  • Running the game in safe mode is useful if you are playing with modifications and encounter problems while playing. To check if the problem is related to mods, run the game in safe mode. Installed mods will be disabled until the next restart of the game.
  • If after starting the game you hear the introductory music, but the screen is black or the message “OUT OF RANGE” is visible on it, launch the game and reset the graphic settings.

Update 1.4.1 does not download

For the launcher and game client to work correctly, a constant connection to the Internet is required.

If you have difficulties updating the game client from version 1.4 to version 1.4.1 via the launcher, use an alternative method of installing the update. For this:

  1. Download the 1.4.1 update files yourself using the links below:
    • File No. 1(136 MB, MD5 checksum:):

    • File No. 2(185 MB, MD5 checksum:):
      directly or via torrent.
    • File No. 3(needed only for HD client, 199 MB, MD5 checksum:):

2. Move the downloaded files to the Updates folder, which is located in the folder with the installed game (for example, C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\Updates). List of files to be moved:

  • wot_1.4.1.19471_1.4.0.19449_client.wgpkg,
  • wot_1.4.1.19471_1.4.0.19426_sdcontent.wgpkg,
  • wot_1.4.1.19471_1.4.0.19426_hdcontent.wgpkg (this file is needed if you are updating the HD client).

3. Launch the game launcher (file WoTLauncher.exe, which is located in the folder with the installed game) and wait until the update is installed.

Failed to unpack updates

If you see this message on your screen, follow the instructions below (one at a time until the problem is resolved):




Method 1

  5. Launch the launcher and wait for the game client to automatically update.

Can't click on the "Play" button

If the Play button is grayed out and cannot be clicked, do the following:


  1. Reinstall Internet Explorer after uninstalling the existing version of this browser.
    • For Windows Windows 7, Windows 8:
      • Uninstall Internet Explorer:
        Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off, and in the list of Windows features, uncheck Internet Explorer. In the window that opens, click the button Yes. Restart your computer.

    • For Windows XP:

Reinstalling Internet Explorer

As a workaround, try setting your DNS server addresses to Google's public DNS server addresses. For this:

  1. Click Start, in the menu that opens, select “Control Panel”.
  2. In the View box at the top right, select Small Icons to make it easier to find.
  3. Select "Network and Sharing Center" from the menu.
  4. In the menu on the left, click "Change adapter settings."
  5. Right-click on the connection icon for which you are going to change the DNS settings. In the menu that opens, select “Properties”.
  6. In the window that opens, select the “Network” tab.
  7. In the “Checked components are used by this connection” field, select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”. To the right, below the field, click the button Properties.
  8. At the bottom of the window that opens, on the “General” tab, check the box next to “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter the following addresses: 8.8.8.8 And 8.8.4.4.
  9. Click OK to save changes. Restart your network connection (disconnect and reconnect) or restart your computer.
  10. Launch the launcher and try to update.

Problem connecting to the update server

Option 1

To solve the problem when it fails, you need to do the following. First of all, make sure that your Internet is working properly. Then restart your computer and turn off the internet if you are getting it through a router or router.   5. We open the properties of the protocol “IP version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” also through the right mouse button.
  6. Place a dot next to “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter if not, otherwise replace the DNS server with 8.8.8.8. This is Google's DNS server. The second one we enter is the Yandex DNS server 77.88.8.8.
  7. Save by clicking on the “Ok” button.
