The Global Map is a browser-based multiplayer game-application for World of Tanks. Clans land on it and fight for territory. For each territory captured, the clans receive so-called golda (gold).

How does the battle go?

It's simple, this is a regular map, just like in a standard battle, there is only one difference. This is that the GK is played by fairly experienced players who are members of the clan. The winning team either receives the territory or keeps it. For each victory, the clan is given gold, which in the future the commander or treasurer of the clan gives to all players who have proven themselves in the main group.

How to get to the GC?

Well, everything is simple here. You need to fight a certain number of battles that the clan requires (Each clan has different requirements). After you see the recruitment or ask to join the clan and that’s it, it’s all in the bag, basically all clans land on the GK (there are exceptions). Of course, the number of battles is not necessary, you can simply find the so-called “Nubo-clans” that recruit people simply and not participate in the landings.

How to earn gold?

It's not that simple here. You need to find a clan that lands and has a fairly good composition. To do this, you must have excellent statistics, from 1000+ efficiency (), 50%+ victories and about 10 thousand battles, and of course 1-2 tops (Tanks of the 10th level), because They can only land on main battle tanks using level 10 vehicles. Next, you need to win the battle and only after that the commander will pay you golda (gold). It’s not so easy to get into top clans, because... "Global Map" is a special mode in the game World of Tanks. It represents a strategic struggle between gaming clans for territories. This article provides general information about the Global Map.

The global map is a virtual battlefield based on the world map. For convenience, the map is divided into several parts: Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, West Africa, East Africa, South Africa, the Urals and Trans-Urals, Siberia and the Far East, Asia. Each of these parts, in turn, is divided into provinces (for example, Moscow region, Lithuania, Bavaria, Transylvania...). Each province corresponds to a specific game map. They are geographically referenced: for example, in Africa you cannot find a province with a map of the Arctic Circle or the Sandy River somewhere in the north.

Participants

In order to fight on the Global Map, players unite into clans. Each clan fighter is conventionally designated on the Global Map with a chip. Single players cannot take part in the mode, but the developers plan to give them this opportunity in the role of Mercenaries. Clans conduct their own diplomacy: they enter into alliances, create alliances and, most importantly, fight with each other.

Why is all this needed?

In addition to sporting interest, clans pursue material goals: each province brings its owner a certain amount of gold every day. It can vary from several tens to several thousand gold coins, depending on the geographical location and historical value of the province. For example, a European capital will bring more income to its owner than a dozen African possessions.

How do battles happen?

The whole process can be divided into two levels: global (what happens directly on the Global Map) and tactical (what happens in the game client). At the global level, clan commanders move pieces (symbol for clan players), attack and defend provinces, carry out reconnaissance, robbery, and much more. If the chips enter into a combat clash with the enemy, then at a certain time (it is different for each province) a battle will take place between members of the opposing clans. Battles take place in the game client (the “Special Battle” tab). At its core, a clan battle is no different from a company battle in the absolute format. The only difference: players do not see each other's lineups until the tanks are revealed in battle.

Small secrets of battles on the main battlefield

  • If your province and the province you want to attack are in different time zones, then you need to launch the attack before your opponents’ prime time.
  • If you lose the battle for the province in which your bet is located, then you have time until the start of the next turn to move the bet to an adjacent province, thereby saving it on the map.
  • If a province is attacked by several clans at once, then first a mini-tournament takes place between them for the right to fight with the owner of the province. And if there is a draw in this tournament, then the team that previously launched an attack on the province advances.
  • If you won the battle with the owner and landed on the main building, then you still have time before the turn update to set up new landings the next day.
  • If an oncoming battle occurs, then the map for it is selected randomly from the cards of those provinces from which your troops and the enemy troops set out.
  • On the global map, the attacking team always plays from second base, and the defending team from first.
  • If you created a clan and think that you can immediately capture provinces, etc. - it's a delusion. To do this, you need to train a lot with your clan, play vehicle compositions for different maps, watch battles of top clans, and only then, after a while, will you have a chance to win. At the moment, for beginners (and even for middle levels) clans, the only way to fight on the main battlefield is to gain experience in such battles. It is almost impossible to knock out TOP clans from provinces. The whole point of battles on the main battlefield is that top clans fight each other for provinces. It would seem that everything is elementary: you go in, take a tank, press the “play” button and have fun riding around for 15 minutes, trying to kill enemies and stay alive. At least, that's how most people play. Those for whom this is not enough unite into platoons and companies and ride as a team, agreeing in voice chat about who is going where. This is how 95% of the multi-million audience of World of Tanks spends their time. The remaining five percent need something more. More than a year ago, a “Global Map” was created especially for them, on which really tough fights take place. Little is known about this game mode outside of it, so we decided to talk about it in more detail.

The global map is an add-on to the regular battle mode, reminiscent of a browser-based strategy game. Outwardly, it looks like a map of the world, divided into many sections - territories, for the right to own which many clans are fighting. Any player can create a clan if they are able to pay 2,500 gold (a little more than 300 Russian rubles) for registration. After this, you need to attract players (no more than a hundred) to the clan and try to gain a foothold on the map by capturing one of the starting provinces. The overwhelming number of clans cannot overcome this barrier and disintegrate: according to Wargaming, out of more than 30,000 created clans, only about 5,000 are ready for battles on the Global Map and regularly try to get on it, and only a little more than 300 clans manage to control at least one province. These clans are the real elite of the World of Tanks.

Of course, only the most skillful and experienced players get into clans. They are subject to requirements comparable to those for top raiders of major online games. The successful candidate must have several medium or heavy tanks of level 10 (upgrading a tank to level 10 will take at least several months), have a high percentage of victories in random battles, and be ready to devote several hours every day to battles for their clan.

To capture your first province, all you need is a successful landing. To do this, in battle with other applicant clans, you will have to win the right to fight with the owner of the province - a clan that has already made a successful landing earlier. Such tournaments are held daily for several dozen starting locations that exist in the game. After capturing the starting location, you can try to capture the neighboring one - according to similar rules. By and large, this is all that is on the global map: you capture the first location, and then try to grab as large a piece of the map as possible and defend your conquests. But, as usual, there are many nuances.

The clan size limit does not allow you to capture many provinces. Each clan has troops - the so-called “chips”. The number of chips is equal to the number of players in the clan. Once a day, chips can be moved between provinces, like chess pieces, but so that no province has more than 15 chips at the same time. Each chip represents one fighter that the clan can deploy to defend its territory or attack a neighbor. Accordingly, even if a clan is fully staffed, it cannot simultaneously defend more than seven provinces bordering the territory of another clan.

A clan that is active and successful enough to be able to expand the borders of its possessions moves, capturing new provinces and giving away old ones, since not all of them are equally useful. The fact is that each captured territory brings the owner in-game gold every day. The profitability of the areas is different: for example, the Moscow region brings 4320 game gold per day, and the Netherlands - only 240. Naturally, valuable provinces are more popular, and the fight for them is the most serious. But in general, holding onto profitable provinces is more a matter of prestige than money. After all, the largest clan on the map earns no more than 20,000 in-game gold per day. This is 200 gold per day per person - a ridiculous amount that is spent in one battle.

In addition to capturing profitable provinces, there is another way to increase the income (and expand the territory) of the clan. This is politics. Clans can form alliances, eliminating the need to defend common borders. A clan alliance can defend a larger area than its constituent clans individually. However, such alliances are based solely on word of honor, and a former ally can at any moment stick a knife in the back, winning back several unprotected provinces in one fell swoop. Really large associations of “tankers”, like the one that belongs to a well-known multi-gaming organization (precisely its representatives recently), consist of thousands of players and can simultaneously include dozens of clans trying to get onto the Global Map.

Of course, the simple mechanics of the game do not provide room for truly large-scale intrigues and confrontations. There are no dramatic combinations with penetration into the upper echelons of large corporations and withdrawal of all funds, as in Eve Online. Huge armies do not meet in battle, as in Lineage 2. And even the battle lasts only 15 minutes, and not several hours, like in many other large online games. Despite this, the Global Map is attractive enough for the number of people who want to play on it to be many times greater than the number of those who actually manage to do so. This is where the problem lies: the developers strive to ensure that everyone in the “tanks” can find something to their liking, but so far they have nothing to occupy several thousand guilds (this, by the way, is several hundred thousand people) eager for battle, but not well prepared enough to earn their place in the sun on the Global Map.

However, according to the producer of “World War” Kirill Mal, this problem can be solved as early as next year. In addition, in the foreseeable future there will be significant changes on the Global Map that will make life more difficult for clan alliances creating their own empires. Participants World of Tanks expect new in-game events like the summer "" or the recently completed operation "". It may finally be possible to formally create alliances.

The global map is a relatively small, but very important component of World of Tanks. It is there that the most devoted, most attentive, most in love with the game and who do not spare money for it, “tankers,” play. It is for them that the balance of the cards is so carefully licked, and it is to their comments that the developers listen most attentively. Unfortunately, so far most of the clans that want to participate in the war do not fit on the map purely physically, and the developers are struggling with this problem in their characteristic leisurely manner. But most importantly, the Global Map is the real hardcore, which is so often missing in modern online games.

The time is set by the province itself and it is different for each; the battle will take place in the game client, namely in the “Special Battle” tab. The battles are no different from ordinary company battles. There is only one “but”, the clans will not be able to see each other’s squads until the equipment is discovered during the battle.

What is currently happening at the GK

Today, all provinces belong to the best TOP clans, and it is almost impossible to knock them out of there. Since these are very strong and experienced players, you need to train a lot to fight them.

In addition, if you decide to create a clan and try to attack to capture a province, then you will not succeed.

Because you need to spend a huge number of hours training clans, selecting the necessary compositions of equipment for certain maps of the area, and also watch videos of battles of the TOP clans, only then will you have a small chance of winning. For beginner and intermediate-level clans, there is only one opportunity to fight on the “Global Map” - this is only to gain experience in such battles.

When developing a new map, one of the important tasks was to solve the main problems that players are currently facing.

More provinces - more space
Currently, the number of clans playing in landing tournaments greatly exceeds the number of available provinces, making the competition incredibly strong.

New map has a flexible architecture, and if necessary, we can expand it to an almost unlimited number of provinces: two, five, ten times more!

Everyone will land
On the current map, in order to capture a province, the clan needs to go through a landing tournament with no room for error, spend a lot of time on battles, but in the end there is no guarantee of success.

On the updated Global Map, in addition to a larger number of provinces, a new way to get onto the map will be introduced, and it will be possible, as before, to capture territories in landing tournaments.

Choose the technology level
The recent introduction of additional regions for Tier VIII vehicles has shown great interest from players in participating in battles in this format.

Next generation global map will have regions with technology levels similar to battles in sorties: VI, VIII, X. Profitability and opportunities will vary accordingly.

With the exception of campaigns and other in-game events, which are not held as often or regularly due to current architectural features, the map does not provide an end goal for the clans.

Global Map 2.0 has a completely new architecture that will allow it to operate on a seasonal model. In each season, clans will have the opportunity to compete for victory and special prizes.

Other innovations
Chips are no longer needed, they will be replaced by divisions

A division is a combat unit fully equipped with the required number of tanks, regardless of the number of fighters in the clan. Now you will no longer need to keep inactive players in the clan, there is no longer a need to move one piece at a time to reach the full roster, and you can be sure: if a battle is scheduled, it will take place.

Dividing the map into fronts

Regions will give way to fronts, each of which will have customizable borders, province composition, battle rules, available equipment level, or even a set of specific vehicles. Each clan will be able to choose a front convenient for itself.

New in-game currency for the Global Map - Influence

In order to conduct combat operations and carry out other operations on the Global Map, clans will need influence.

Why is it needed:

  • Landing on the map without participating in landing tournaments.
  • Purchase and maintenance of divisions, as well as additional modules for them.
  • Investment in a province to increase its profitability.
  • Protecting your province under certain conditions.
Influence can be obtained in two ways:
  1. Fighting on the map: when an enemy division is destroyed, the winner receives part of its value.
  2. Participation in forays of Fortified Areas: in addition to industrial resources, forays will also bring influence, the amount of which will depend on the division.

Influence will allow clans not to depend on a limited number of chips and their “freezing”, independently regulating their activity on the map. Influence can also be accumulated in unlimited quantities, which will make it possible to plan long-term operations.

It is also worth paying attention to the fact that influence cannot be purchased for in-game gold, exchanged for industrial resources or credits.

New interface and visual component

In addition to technical changes and mechanical innovations, the map will be radically redesigned both visually and in terms of usability. Navigation will become more convenient, a lot of new information will be added, flexible filters, as well as a system of pop-up tips.
