In the Apple Store you can find more than a dozen different archivers for the Apple operating system, but only a few of them deserve attention.

Win Zip
It is the most popular iOS archiver, offering a wide range of built-in functions and additional features. The program is compatible with all versions of iOS, working stably on both iPad and Apple smartphones of various generations. iZip
The main advantage of this iOS archiver is the ability to work with RAR archives, which are the most popular today. The developers themselves position their application as intended for working with password-protected archives. Thus, the application also allows you to protect various user data from unauthorized access.
The Files app in iOS 11 uses a new document organization system. In addition to the ability to sort files, support for archives has been added. In Files you can open and view document previews. If you transfer several files from the application to Mail, they are automatically converted into an archive. But this is where the functionality of the archives ends.
How to create archives using "Drag and Drop»
The easiest way to create archives is on an iPad with iOS 11 by opening the Zipped and Files apps on the same screen.
Step 1: In the Files app, pinch a document, and then add a few more with another finger.
Step 2: Once you have all the documents you need in your finger, drag them into the Zipped app.
Step 5: When you find a suitable folder, click the button Add.
Step 6: Go back to the Files application, open this folder, and in it you will find the created archive.
To unzip it, simply drag the archive into the Zipped app and select the folder where you want to place the documents.
How to create archives oniPhone
Selecting files on iPhone is a little more complicated.
Step 1: Open the Zipped app and click on the box button in the center of the screen.
Step 2 : The Files application opens.
Step 3: Find the folder containing the documents you need.
Step 4: Press the button Choose at the top of the screen.
Step 5: Select all the files you want to add to the archive and click Ready.
Even though neither Safari nor Google Chrome can open archives on iPhone and iPad, you shouldn’t be upset. The thing is that iOS 9 introduced the “Open in...” function. With its help, you can send even unsupported files to applications that are up to the task. 1. Tap on the ZIP archive icon to download the file to your iPhone or iPad.
2. Since the Safari browser cannot open archives, click on the “Open in...” button.

How to Open ZIP Files on iPhone
The first thing you need to do is download the Zip Viewer for iPhone app. This is a free app, but there are some ads inside. If you don't like seeing ads in apps, you can choose other paid options.
Next, on your iPhone, open the Mail or Safari app and find the ZIP file you want to open. Please note that depending on the internal contents, a different unzipping application may be required.
Download the file and then click " Open in". This button is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Scroll the menu that opens to " Open in Zip Viewer". This will open the archive in the newly installed application. Please note that the archive itself has not yet been unpacked.

Modern versions of iOS make it very easy to download and save Zip files on iPhone and iPad. This is possible thanks to the new Files application, which allows you to work with files and information on the device, as well as in iCloud Drive storage.

- Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad and follow the link to the zip file you want to download.
- Click on the link to start downloading.
- Safari will display a screen with options and available apps.
- Click Open in Files, and then choose where you want to save the file.
- You can also click "More..." and then select "Save to Files."
That's all, the file will be saved to your device, and you can open and view it in Files.
Unfortunately, you can't unzip files in the standard application, so you'll still have to download a third-party application, like WinZip or Zip Viewer. Don't forget that Files has direct access to iCloud Drive, so files will sync across all your devices linked to the same Apple ID.
Saving zip files on iPhone and iPad is similar to saving email attachments in the Mail app, as well as saving any other files. The only exception is saving images and videos in mov format from Safari, since they will automatically go to the Photos application and you will not be able to open them through Files. This doesn't mean you can't save images to iCloud Drive and Files. For example, archives with photos and videos will be saved in Files. The only limitation is the inability to open individual images through Files. Perhaps this will be fixed in the future.
