New battle mode in wot. Excursion into the past

New fan mode in World of Tanks for Halloween 2017!

World of Tanks has been attacked! Leviathan, ruler of the world of destroyed technology, is planning an assault on the Gate to the world of the living, and only you can stop his army! The battle will begin on October 27, Halloween, when the army of the villain's minions advances to the Gate. Answer the call, don’t let Leviathan destroy everything and everyone! Our salvation is in unity.

There is only one day left before the battle begins. Let's not waste time! Our task is to study the enemy before the battle begins.

Background

Driven by an insatiable thirst for power, Leviathan and his minions will soon begin a desperate assault on the Great Gate. Many guardians of the portal between worlds have fallen, but still protect the last line of defense. While their ranks are thinning, Leviathan's army is growing stronger.

Your task is to stop Leviathan's attack and throw his army back into the abyss. With each fight, the villain develops a new plan. You will not know where his army will come from next, since each attack on the Gate will begin from a new direction.

Review

Time: from October 27, 9:00 (Moscow time) to November 9, 9:00 (Moscow time). Halloween 2017 in WoT
- Modes: “Invasion” (battle against AI) and “Eternal Battle” (battle with other players).
- Vehicles: two exclusive multi-turret vehicles: Franky and Stein.
- Map: “Inferno.”
- Tasks:
“Eternal Battle”: capture the enemy’s base or destroy all of its equipment.
"Invasion": hold back the onslaught of Leviathan by destroying him.

Unique cars

Two fallen warriors, Frankie and Stein, are called from the shadow world to hold off the attack of their greatest enemy. This pair does not need additional equipment for combat: each vehicle has two turrets (hard times require non-standard solutions) and is not inferior to the enemy in terms of armament (if you skillfully take advantage of these weapons). Multi-turreted tanks with ghost crews who have nothing to lose and nothing to hope for - a desperate combination. And only it gives hope for success in the battle with Leviathan.

The tank and the ghostly crew are inseparable entities; they cannot exist without each other. The cars are not suitable for ordinary crews, and the ghosts will not be able to move any equipment except Frankie and Stein. At the end of the game event, the tanks will disappear into oblivion along with their crew.

You should pay attention to Franky if you want to fire from a distance. The high damage of this tank can be combined with the rate of fire while hiding in cover. Find a safe position and blow your opponent apart! And if it gets hot, great tools will help you get out of a sticky situation.

If you want to get closer to Leviathan and deal with him personally, Stein is more suitable for you. It holds a blow perfectly, has two turrets and is quite mobile. It has a better weight-to-power ratio than Franky, and a large reserve of durability allows it to fight effectively in close combat.

Frankie

This is a machine for cautious players who prefer to destroy the enemy from afar. Both of her weapons perform best at long range. Their frontal location allows you to quickly get used to new game mechanics. Therefore, if you are not confident in your abilities or prefer to understand something new in detail, start getting acquainted with multi-turret technology with Frankie.

Matte

Do you like to fight face to face with your opponent? Then Stein is your choice. The combination of good armor, fast-firing guns and impressive maneuverability will give you the advantage in short-range battles. Stein can deal damage to an enemy with lightning speed and just as quickly escape from enemy fire. The tank has one peculiarity: its rear gun is directed backwards. Therefore, in order to fight, you will have to turn the car so that two guns can fire at the opponent simultaneously. This may seem unusual at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll wreak havoc on the battlefield.

During the Halloween 2017 event in World of Tanks, these two vehicles will appear in your Hangar. Choose one of them, and then the mode: against the Leviathan army or against other players in 15 vs 15 battles you want to fight.

NOTE: Two teams using two-turret vehicles, 15 x 15 players, enter the battle. Since damage to allies can be a serious problem, it is disabled so you can focus on the main target in combat. Have fun playing as Franky or Stein without the fear of accidentally hurting (or destroying) your allies!

In order not to distract you from the battle, we have disabled crew training for free experience for vehicles used in the game event. It makes no sense, since the tankers will return to their world after November 9 along with Frankie and Stein.

Study the enemy...

Now for the bad stuff: Leviathan. No longer wanting to remain just the ruler of a world of destroyed technology, he craves power. Therefore, he gathered an army to attack the Great Gate - a portal between worlds. Wanting to get everything, Leviathan will bring about the end of the world in the world of the living... If he is not stopped.

Before the battle, the enemy should be studied, and you can learn something about him right in the Hangar. Hover your cursor over the dark shadow in the background to find out who you'll be facing.

In addition to its powerful cannon, the Leviathan has additional weapons located on the sides of its huge hull. And he will definitely use it! Unlike mere mortals, this villain is fearless and merciless. Leviathan's fury is so great that simply colliding with him will send you straight to the Hangar (and very quickly). In addition, you should beware of the mines that he scatters around: running into them will stun you and leave you defenseless for seven seconds.

It will be a difficult battle, but can it be abandoned? After all, there is only one choice: take the fight or watch the world of the living fall.

However, Leviathan also has weaknesses. Look closely and you will see cracks in his armor. Only thanks to them can you crack this tough nut.

...and his army

Leviathan is accompanied by 14 warriors who fell in battle and turned to the dark side. They continuously storm the Great Gate, but even this can be turned to their advantage. By destroying the villain's henchman, you will receive a Repair Kit, which will restore the strength of you and your allies.

How to defeat Leviathan's minions

1. Act smart and fast. Your enemy's army is headless puppets controlled by Leviathan. They need time to choose any tactics, which gives you a serious advantage.
2. Use your car's strengths and weaknesses wisely. Leviathan's minions are similar to Franky and Stein, but are less effective. Take advantage of this! However, do not think that they are whipping boys.
3. Think of Leviathan's minions as a strategic resource. Don't destroy them in the first minutes of the battle - prolong the pleasure. Repair kits can be useful in battle.

Tasks and rewards

Fight for an idea or for fun! And if you want to get the most out of the game, pay attention to special combat missions. Each of them, completed in the “Invasion” or “Eternal Battle” modes, will provide you with a sarcophagus container with valuable game resources. If you want to earn credits, pay attention to the “Leviathan Invasion” task, available throughout the entire game event in each mode.

When you complete all the conditions of the task, a sarcophagus will appear in the Hangar. Click on it to get your reward. It will be issued randomly and belong to one of four types. The more difficult the task, the better the reward.

You will receive a reward only after opening the sarcophagus

For your high performance in battle, you will be rewarded with exclusive rewards. Combat missions play a key role here. Completing each of them will bring you closer to receiving unique rewards.

“...And machines rose from the ashes of nuclear fire...” Win 25 battles.

"Ten Lives" Win 10 times by surviving combat

"Border is locked tight". Complete all weekly objectives in the 2017 Leviathan Invasion event.

This idea became especially relevant when the new April Fool's regime was introduced. We are talking about the IS-360 ball tanks. But let's not dwell on them, whoever wants to read about them - (and also some information at the bottom of this article).

And now to the memories. 2014, April 1. There was no sign of fun. But upon entering their hangars, the players were extremely surprised. Before him appeared an eight-bit tank game world, strongly reminiscent of the old days of the Dendy era of games.

The mode offered players to fight in a 7 vs 7 format on a special pixel map that was developed for this mode. The only tank used was the Karl self-propelled gun. It was distinguished by a very strong projectile throw, fast movement and quick reloading of the gun. It was also striking that not only the environment was redone in the 8-bit style. The sounds also changed and sounded extremely pleasant, truly reminiscent of the past. As a reward for an unusual battle, players were awarded a unique medal - “Operation Nostalgia”. Initially, the regime was intended as a minor April Fool's joke, but it created an extremely strong sensation. In just a few days, millions of battles were played, and tank forums were filled with messages about the new fan mode.

And also a video of the announcement of this mode (there will be a video for each mode).

Then came the next fun mode - T62-A "Football". On June 12, 2014, on the opening day of the Mundial (the great football feast, namely the World Cup), the game launched a fan mode dedicated to this event, namely “Football Battles”. The game was played in a 3v3 format on a heavily modified Himmelsdorf. For the game, everyone was given the same special T62A sport tank.

Victory in the battle was achieved in two ways - one of the teams needed to be the first to score 3 goals, or at the end of playing time to have more goals scored in their account. There were two ways to drive the ball into the opponent's goal - with the body of a tank and with a gun (by shooting at the ball). Another interesting feature was the fact that the tanks were not vulnerable, that is, they did not receive any damage. Also, there was only one type of shells - land mines (because they are easier to shoot at the ball with).

The mode has become extremely popular among players. In just one month of playing this mode, more than 60 million matches took place!

Well, without a video.

The next fun mode was “Tank Racing”. They appeared in the game in the fall, on September 29, 2014. Based on the title, players had to “transform” from ordinary tankers into tank racers. This was facilitated by the very fast M24 Chaffee Sport (the only tank that was issued for the mode) and the redesigned Port map, which serves as a racing track (a moment of nostalgia for the Port map).

The goal of the race was to drive a long circle, and then go to the common base. The base was captured extremely quickly. It was possible to win a battle by completely destroying your opponent. For winning the mode, they were given an honorary medal - “Racer 2014”. The fight took place 3 on 3. The track was built in such a way that the racers rode on different sides of the road, but were constantly (or periodically, depending on the place) shot at the enemy. Shooting on the move is difficult and inconvenient, but quite fun. High speed, turns, jumps. Tank racing has given great pleasure to many players. This type of fan mode has become incredibly successful - over 110 million game sessions were played in two weeks!

And a video (what would we do without it?).

There were no more fan events in 2014. But at the beginning of 2015 - no questions asked. On January 5, 2015, an exclusive New Year's holiday mode appeared in the game. Interestingly, it was also made in eight-bit style. It was a combination of World of Tanks tank combat with the nostalgia of classic console games. The next fun mode is called “Winter Battle”.

Three tanks, a special pixel map, cool new sounds (actually in an 8-bit atmosphere), as well as an interesting feature - a platoon of 5 people were specially developed for the mode! Naturally, a commemorative medal was provided for this regime as well. For winning a battle, players will be awarded a commemorative medal “Operation Winter”.

Now about the mode itself in a little more detail. The 3 tanks of this mode are 3 different game classes. The Raider (similar to the T50-2) is lightweight and performs reconnaissance and flanking maneuvers. The second representative of this fan mode is "Mammoth" (heavy tank, copy of T110E5). Lots of hit points, large size and an interesting weapon with 3 shells in the drum. But the interest is not just in the drum, but in the fact that the shells fly out one after another at once, with a slight delay. And finally, the third representative of this fan mode is Berserk. This is a tank destroyer (a copy of the Foch 155) with high one-time damage (but of course without a turret) and good mobility, but with a mediocre hull rotation speed. Has an average amount of HP between Raider and Mammoth.

The types of projectiles in this mode are also interesting. There are two of them - regular projectiles and healing ones. Both regular projectiles and healing ones deal damage to the enemy. Healing projectiles restore health to their ally (1 healing projectile - 200 hp). In this way, interesting tactics were collected, for example, a Berserker riding forward and killing his opponents on cooldown and two Raiders behind him, who restore his health. Thus, it was possible to shoot over 10 thousand damage without any problems.

The map prepared for the regime was mirror-like and extremely interesting. It is completely destructible, except that it should not be destructible for gameplay reasons. In the center of the map is the base. Near the base there is water in which you can drown your opponent (or drown yourself).

The goal in battle is standard - to destroy all enemy equipment or capture a base.

The video and therefore the fan mode are here to stay.

And finally we come to the modern fan mode, which is still in progress at the time of publication of the article. It was called "The Dark Side of the Moon". In this mode, the spherical tank IS-360 is used. The map chosen (as always for fan modes) is special and extremely unusual. The map represents the lunar surface with craters and lava pits. The main goal in battle is to push all opponents into the lava. Destroying a tank by shooting it with guns is extremely rare, because the tank has a lot of HP, but the gun has very little damage per shot. The fight lasts only 3.5 minutes and, as a rule, this is enough to defeat your opponent. The battle format is 7 vs 7. The so-called “lunar platoon” is available for this mode, consisting of 3 people. In addition to these moments in battle, you will experience non-standard gravity and various random effects that happen every 45 seconds of the game.

A video on fan mode is also present.

This post will be updated after some time. And there are reasons for this. The expected football event of the summer of 2016 has passed, passions have subsided, which means it’s time to sum up some results and leave a post in memory of another departed fan mode.

Football mode was not new to World of Tanks players; it already showed itself to the world in 2014 at the World Championship. This time it was timed to coincide with the Euro 2016 event. Football, of course, remained football, but certain adjustments and improvements were made.

The first important improvement was the increase in playing fields (cards). Previously there was only one, but in 2016 there were 3, each with its own specific characteristics. The playing fields are essentially the same, but the surrounding appearance was very different - light and bright Himmelstadion, night Abandoned stadium and sandy Stud Eiffel.

The game format was not touched (still 3 on 3). The goal is the same - to score the ball into the goal. To do this, you can use both shots (only land mines) and the ramming ability of the tank. The winner is the team that scores 3 goals first, or the team that wins by score at the end of regular time. If regular time ends with a draw, then extra time is announced with a very interesting mechanic. There are also two ways to win: whoever scores the ball first wins; the second method is to keep the ball on the opponent’s field for 100 seconds (not in a row, but as a total amount of time). Whoever can be the first to keep the ball on the opponent's side for this period of time will take the victory into his piggy bank. To improve the dynamism of the mode and the efficiency of the game, a special consumable called the “Turbocharger” was added to certain sections of the match. It gives an increase in engine power by 15 percent for 10 seconds. Timely use of this consumable allows you to gain an advantage on the field over your opponent or even score a goal and snatch victory.

As in 2014, this fan mode attracted a lot of people to the game. A lot of people played - both football fans and those who are quite far from real real football. According to this fan mode, a tournament was even held with impressive cash prizes.

In short, this 2016 football mode in World of Tanks is a high-quality update of the old 2014 model. And it is right. There is no point in reinventing the wheel when you can simply introduce new features and correct shortcomings. Of course, screenshots and a video announcement of the football mode are included (see just below).

These were all the fun modes of our game World Of Tanks. Each with its own flavor, with its own peculiarity. As for me, the idea of creating such modes was great and I hope that they will not stop delighting us with them.

From the editor: As I said, each mode is good in its own way, but the one that really stuck with me the most was the fan mode “Winter Battle”. I hope that someday it will return to our game clients again.

I hope you enjoyed plunging into such memories (and it will be useful for newcomers to know for the history of the game). All the best and successful battles, tankers!

Our game has not seen such drastic additions and changes for a long time as those that occurred in the 9.8 update package. World of Tanks has a new game mode – “Supremacy” mode. What does this game mode represent, is there any point in playing in it? You will find out the answer to many other questions from this article.

“The battle for “Supremacy” has begun” - this is the phrase the developers used to mark the start of the new game mode; otherwise, this is symbolic. This innovation has already received a lot of positive reviews, and even from those VOD makers and players who have not recently seen the bright side in changing the game. “Wargaming did it!” - it is this phrase that has become popular among tankers who come to play “Superiority”. What did the developers manage to do? Let's watch.

What is “Superiority” and what is it used with?

The essence of the new mode is capture the flag. The sides bring a draw flag to a certain place and earn points. The main feature is what the World of Tanks players have been asking for for so long - the introduction of garage battles! After destroying his tank, the player does not have to wait for the end of the battle, or leave the battle - after death, transfer to another tank and go into battle!

The goal of the battle is to be the first to earn 150 points, or to gain the maximum number of points before the end of the battle. For the delivery of one flag you are given 10/15/35/50/ - depending on the map on which the battle takes place. For a frag, one point is given to the team, so delivering the flag is more effective.

So far, only three special tanks for “Superiority” are available to players in the mode: the AMX 50 B (P), “Object 140 (P),” and T110E5 (P). These cars are similar to their counterparts from the upgrade branches, so playing in the new mode will also be beneficial for those who are wondering whether to upgrade this or that car. AMX 50 B (P), “Object 140 (P)”, T110E5 (P) are awarded to the hangars of players who entered/will enter during the period when the new mode will work, and vehicles appear with 100 percent crew and three slots in the hangar . True, after the mode with slots and tanks disappears, the crew who will be on the tanks will be retrained for free on the AMX 50 B, Object 140, T110E5 - do not miss the opportunity to upgrade the tankers.

Battle format.

The game event “Supremacy” will take place in two stages. Moreover, the first and second stages will differ from each other in sets of cards and format.

The first stage will follow the format:

  • “Mines” (two teams of 10 players).
  • “Sandy River” (two teams of 15 players).

Second phase:

  • “The Lost City” (two teams of 10 players).
  • Himmelsdorf (two teams of 10 players).
  • "Karelia" (two teams of 15 players each).
  • "Monte Rosa" (two teams of 15 players).

The second stage differs from the first in the set of cards and the concept of the game - now instead of one flag, four appear on the battlefield, which makes the battles even more unpredictable.

Why did the new regime evoke positive emotions?

The game has been waiting for new modes. Modes that will truly engage players, that will be balanced and interesting. The developers admitted that the historical modes and the “battle of nations” mode were failures, they abandoned them and decided to remake the concept of the formats, without even saying when to expect them. So the players are missing new products. The developers understood the importance of “Superiority”, so introducing it in a hurry was not the main task, but it was more important to work out even the little things. And they succeeded.

The regime became successful because...

Firstly, success lies in the fact that there is balance in the regime! The feature of the new format is the absence of “imbs”, and most importantly, artillery! Yes, this also entails a minus - there are only three vehicles in the mode so far, AMX 50 B (P), Object 140 (P), T110E5 (P), which were included in the mode, but this is a “double-edged sword” " For most players, these three units are enough and the main thing for them is that there is no “art”! Of course, the developers promise in the future to add equipment to the mode that is on the nation branches, but this will take time and setup.

Secondly, there is no need to fire “gold” shells! What is already so boring in “random” battles is implemented here again! No, of course you can fill your tank with premium shells, but it doesn’t make sense - making a frag in battles is not as important as in regular battles. As a result, players will again fully feel the importance of armor, “tanking” on the T110E5 (P), and sometimes on the “Object 140 (P)”. The Frenchman can be included in this list, but with a stretch, since he is a more “cardboard” machine than the previous ones, but this is not his main calling, because he has a drum.

Third, maps on which battles take place were developed and developed for the mode. Especially for “Superiority”, the cardmakers made two maps from 0, and a number of others were optimized for this mode, considering the aspect ratios and making the “maps” symmetrical, thereby reducing the “burning” of the players from the dissatisfaction of the party during the “setup” of the teams, and also removing any advantage from each team.

Fourth, this is uniqueness. Yes, it is the uniqueness that makes players play this format. Never before, in normal battles, have there been such opportunities as here - to stop by for repairs, speed up your reloading, replenish ammunition, deliver a flag! All these are new sensations that give a new impetus to the influx of players who are already bored with the usual battles on World of Tanks maps.

Fifthly, this is what players have been waiting for for so long - “garage battles”. There is nothing better than, after your death on the battlefield, recovering in another car and going back into the thick of all the action! Choose another car, wait 12 seconds, and you are ready to win again, make frags and help your team.

Results.

To sum it up, let’s say it boldly, without being afraid of this phrase – the new “Supremacy” mode was a great success! In “Supremacy”, players can simply relax, feel the need to armor, do “damage” and “frags”, or if you’re tired of this, snatch the flag from the clutches of your opponents and take it to the right place! The most important thing is that at this stage of “Supremacy” there are no statistics in it and players do not have to worry about their percentages, because this format does not affect the main profile. Plus, you can still farm here without spending premium shells, but by shooting only “BB guns”.

To test the new format, feel a new breath of air, see the game from a completely different perspective - go to World of Tanks, choose one of three vehicles - AMX 50 B (P), Object 140 (P), T110E5 (P), and into battle, to victory! Also, don’t forget to visit our official fan resource for the World of Tanks game, because here you will not only find a lot of information, but also get the opportunity to replenish your treasury with gold with the help of our promotions and sweepstakes! Good luck on the battlefields of the “World of Tanks” and see you in the new mode!

The final stage in the development of ranked battles will be the beta season, which starts on June 5 and will give everyone the opportunity to experience new sensations in World of Tanks. Enter the mode to fight with players of equal skill, earn ranks, receive exclusive rewards and share your opinions.

Previous tests have generally gone well, and we are grateful to everyone who provided feedback and reported bugs. This time you will check the actual finished product and point out elements that need improvement. We will closely monitor the statistics of ranked battles to understand what impact they have in each region, and we will also use your feedback to finalize functionality, rewards and economics.

We have created an extended guide that we recommend that you study before the start of the Ranked Battles beta season. However, first read this article to the end.

Features of the mode

Battles are only available on Tier X vehicles, and to win you must destroy all the enemy’s equipment or capture his base. Although winning increases your chances of getting a chevron, it is a secondary factor. Much more important is high efficiency in battle and gaining experience, because it is the position in the team list in terms of the amount of experience earned that determines your progress. Once you are in the top 12 players by experience on the winning team or in the top 3 by experience on the losing team, you earn a chevron and are one step closer to a new rank. In other words, you have nothing to lose if you give your best - even if your team played poorly. At the same time, if the team won, and your personal result did not allow you to enter its top 12 in terms of experience, your current progress in ranks will be preserved: the chevron will neither be written off nor awarded.

The higher your personal result, the higher your rank - and the opponent is selected precisely according to rank.

Check out the Ranked Battles guide to learn more about player and vehicle ranks, season structure, and progression.

Reward

For every success in ranked battles, you are entitled to a reward. You receive prizes for all significant achievements: completing a combat mission, receiving a new rank, or getting into a prize league.

Pioneer of ranked battles

  • Combat Mission - Reward for Perseverance
  • Limitations – Performed once a day. Only in ranked battles
  • Condition – Be in the top 10 team by experience in at least 10 battles
  • Reward – 75,000 silver. x3 Large first aid kit. x3 Automatic fire extinguisher. x3 Large repair kit

At the end of the season and its stages, you will receive a certain amount of new currency - bond, as well as reward boxes. Bonds can be used to purchase pre-battle instructions and advanced equipment. The number of bonds earned at the end of a stage depends on the maximum rank achieved during that stage. For example, if you first get rank IV, and then lose one and complete the stage at rank III, then you will receive 400 bonds (the number of bonds received for rank IV). The number of bonds that will be awarded at the end of the season depends on the overall rating, which is calculated based on the ranks earned during all stages of the season, and your position in the list of Season Leaders. Only the top 50% of players will receive an additional reward at the end of the season. So, the higher your position in the ranking, the higher your chance of receiving bonds and the more rewards you will earn.

Additionally, all Beta Season participants who earn four or more Rank Points will receive an exclusive medal.

Go to to see the full list of awards.

Leaders and leagues

The strongest players in ranked battles will be among the Season Leaders. Your place among the Season Leaders will be determined by the number of rank points earned when reaching new ranks. The more points you earn, the higher your position. You can check your position and compare your progress with other players at any time directly in the game client.

With the start of a new stage, rank progress is reset, and the rank points earned go towards the overall standings of the season. The overall result at the end of the season will be calculated based on your performance at each stage. This means that getting into the Season Leaders directly depends on the stability of the game results throughout the season. The ultimate goal is to get into the top half of the list of Season Leaders and maintain your position in it until the end of the season. This way, you guarantee yourself a place in one of the prize leagues, an impressive number of coupons, as well as a unique patch (depending on the league) indicating the level of your skill. The patch will be displayed in the Hangar, as well as in battle next to your nickname, confirming your effectiveness.

If you don't need extra attention and prefer to do your job without standing out, you can turn off the display of badges. While in the Hangar, simply left-click on your nickname in the upper right corner of the screen, and then on the patch slot to hide them.

Go to the regulations and rules of ranked battles to familiarize yourself with detailed information about leagues and stripes.

Next steps

The beta season of ranked battles is of a pilot nature. Over the course of this season, we will collect feedback and make necessary changes based on it.

Analyzing player feedback will allow us to understand the need to make changes to the functionality, reward system and economy of the mode, including improved equipment and pre-battle instructions.

Although Bonds are being introduced into the game as part of the Ranked Battles Beta Season, this mode was not intended to be the only way to obtain Bonds and will not be considered as such in the future. In the future, we will make it possible for players to earn bonds in other game modes, and we will also expand the list of things that can be purchased with their help.

With the start of the beta season, all players will receive 100 bonds

All players who register for the game before July 3 will receive 100 bonds when the beta season begins. Players will also be able to test out new pre-battle instructions for crew or equipment in battle, allowing for significant feedback to be collected.

In the development of ranked battles, it is you who will put the finishing touches. We look forward to your feedback on gameplay, balance, and the ranking system. Let's meet in battle on June 5th!
